PhD fiction programs?
Say, hypothetically, someone were interested in finding out about PhD programs where the novel you're writing becomes your PhD thesis. Any recommendations for programs like that?
In 2007 the Atlantic Monthly listed Florida State, University of Houston, UNLV, USC, and University of Utah as the best creative writing Ph.D. programs. Not sure what their criteria were, but you can check it out here.

Steve K. did this at Florida State. He just got a job at a school in Birmingham. You should ask him about it.
UIC has a pretty good one, too. There are a few in England. Maybe University of East Anglia? That sounds right.
And by Steve K. you mean...?
Never mind, I fgured out who you mean, but could you email me his email address?
I've known a few people who went through Utah's program. I can give you the name and contact info for someone who's there now, if you'd like.

Really appreciate the feedback here. I have enough to go on now.
