National Book Awards finalists

Any one read any of these? I feel some pull toward the Doctorow.

The Doctorow's the best-known, but I think Gaitskill by a nose. She's getting the better press, and the Civil War has been done to death.

A totally off-topic aside to make a recommend: "(Sorrentino) isn’t the first to deal intelligently with Hearst."

I haven't read his book on Hearst, but I did read Susan Choi's American Woman, which is terrific.
