I love Bishkek in the springtime

Will Americans be reading This is Not Civilization to gain some insight into recent events in Kyrgyzstan? Let's hope so.

Yeah! Robert, you could buy an add on Yahoo that comes up whenever someone clicks on the Kyrgystan story...

"My current stay outside the country is temporary," Akayev was quoted as saying. "Rumors of my resignation are deliberate, malicious lies."

Thanks Earth Goat Publicity Department!

I've been secretly working undercover with the pink-armband-ed opposition in Kyrgyzstan to time their takeover of the capital with the release of the paperback. I don't know if this has ever been attempted before, publicity-wise, and I'll let you know the results. (There were supposed to be pictures of jublilant crowds surrounding Bishkek's White House, waving copies of my novel for the foreign press photographers. Instead they seem to have gotten caught up in pelting the defense minister with rocks and looting the storefronts. So much for the plan.)

Actually, Grendel, I've already been using those Google Adword things to get people to visit my site for the book. Yesterday there was heavy traffic. I haven't tried Yahoo's version of those ads. Who knows how many people go on to purchase the book...but I figure at least they know it's [unwieldy] name now

We must get copies into the hands of the looters. Haven't you heard there's no such thing as bad publicity? Besides, if the Kyrgyzstanis (?) want to develop an American-style democracy, they have to learn that the looters and pillagers usually come out on top.
