Breakfast with Bill
Bill Clinton paid a surprise visit to the Hamburg yesterday morning. Check out the photo gallery. Former Hamburg patrons will recognize Amit, who apparently was Bill's server.
I recognize Amit, but not the brick structure where the Gazette building used to stand, nor whatever is now where the purple video store used to be--is that T-Spoons, sprung from the mall? Changes to the IC make me uneasy.
It seems like that building across the street from Linn St Cafe and Devotay went up overnight. A couple new shops and RSVP are in the ground floor. Apartments upstairs. That's Rentertainment moved from Pearson's Drug across the street from the Hamburg into much tighter quarters.
The picture of the guy eating french fries while Clinton signs a book says about all you need to know about how Iowa deals with the influx of political celebrities in this season that can't end soon enough.
Traca, I was thinking of strolling around town and taking some photos of the changes to the IC. I haven't done that yet. And it's just getting colder, so we'll see if I can pull it off. In short: there are many changes, including many new coffee joints.
And the Motley Cow is moving into that brick structure as well. It will then seat 60 people instead of whatever it seats now (25-30, I'm guessing). No word on whether you'll still have to use the bathroom at Paul Revere Pizza.
It looks like he is carrying a T-Spoons coffee cup out of the Hamburg. The new T-Spoons is excellent by the way, and although I haven't had a chance to sample, they sell wine and beer. But really, if you want a beer, George's is right across the street, so I don't know what they are thinking.

I was hoping for a shot of him huffing down a pie shake. Although the shot of the guy stuffing his mouth with fries was pretty awesome.
