have been listed by the NYT. Among them books by Marilynne Robinson, Nam Le, Curtis Sittenfeld, Elizabeth McCracken, and Chris Adrian -- plus a sequel to The Witches of Eastwick and story collections by Tobias Wolff, Cynthia Ozick, and Annie Proulx. And new novels from Jim Harrison, Toni Morrison, Philip Roth, and Aleksander Hemon. Lots of gift ideas here.
What did you read from this year that was notable?

Of the titles you listed, just the Wolff, which was excellent. I'd like to read Marilynne's newest next.
I've read Elizabeth's and Nam's books, which were both excellent. I also loved Netherland.
And please note that our own PJKM has a new book out in New Zealand, Forbidden Cities, which recently reached #4 on NZ's fiction bestseller lists.

I'm about halfway through Forbidden Cities. So good! I hope to interview her here after I'm done.
Someone parsed the Iowa folks out of that list of 100.
